35 Soon

I cannot believe advent is ticking away and when we hit door 15, I turn 35 for one; where has the last 12 months gone. The last five days I've been made up with cold and flu and reflected its always good to be surrounded by good books. Which reminds me I must revisit Raymond Brigg's "Father Christmas"...

Blue Dude

Well its another wet afternoon and evening in Doncaster; I've been drawing more things hospitality based and then I broke off and drew this chap with the enormous head. I think I must have seen him in down town Doncaster earlier amongst all the race horse goers...

Tuesday, 10 September 2013

Today along with drawing up all things "Hospitality" based I've drawn this little badger character up along with digesting many a pop tune along the way and pangs of guilt for nibbling on biscuits, while it rained off and on in deepest darkest Doncaster.

Cats & Dogs

This afternoon I've mostly drawn cats and dogs and debated with myself about growing a beard and having a new hairstyle. I've also listened to a lot of music and drank a lot of coffee. I've also thumbed through a book of maps.

Over the last week I've been to Bakewell and took in the sights it has to offer, took my Brompton bike and rode up Box hill and beyond and around London for some inspiration. I've caught some Sun, read very little this week and completed the hungry image below...

Earlier this year I met illustrator Nick Deakin in Sheffield; a few days ago I drew him after some advice he gave me seemed to stick with me. Sorry in the lack of updates to my blog but I've had a lot going of in my life. My dad passed away on the 3rd of July. I'm slowly getting things together, I promise...

193 miles

Last friday I kicked of and rode 11 hours 20 mins to clock up 193 miles my biggest mileage to date; and I loved it, really loved it. All in aid to raise funds for cancer charities. The image is my print from the show Wunderkind which celebrates students that have gone through the university of Salford from 2001-2013...

Monday, 17 June 2013

I got asked to contribute to Wunderkind on the 26th of June which documents and celebrates a small cross section of past and present students that have gone through the University of Salford. I believe the work is up for two weeks at 2022NQ 20 dale street Manchester Northern Quarter. Past students have gone onto Ilovedust,Young, Vault49 and Vogue among a heap of other great creative roles and employers in the Graphic design and Illustration world....

Tickhill Velo

Here are some of the Tickhill Velo cycling club members, who had just completed the Peak Punisher sportive 100 miles of cycling hell over some brutish hill climbs in the Peak District.  I resolved the clubs ident and artwork and got these members into wearing "Magenta" they love it.... I think...

Sketchbook Page

Here is a recent sketchbook drawing I did. Where I managed to make the mistake of missing a finger off, which really bugged me, but we all make little mistakes from time to time. Just the other day read an article about sketchbook work in the latest Aoi publication. Weeks back I got my paws on the Jason Brooks sketchbook works he has completed in Paris; it truly is scrummy to pour over.

Tickhill To Cleethorpes

On Sunday just gone I did the club ride with the DRC ladies and gents and did 120 miles on my road bike, it was a cracking route to do and the weather was spot on for it. I really enjoyed that bike ride a lot  and laughed loads, the fish and chips were just awesome and well deserved after the mileage. It wrapped up in a great BBQ which ended the day really well.

Thursday, 30 May 2013

Here is a little bit of my work used in a Aspire college course guide for Bolton College. A healthy blend of photography in partnership with illustration. Other news on monday for the first time I tackled the Peak District on my bike and tackled the infamous Strines. It was a tough ride the scenery was beautiful and by the end of my bike ride I'd ridden 105 miles and was real hungry...

Thursday, 23 May 2013

Last thursday one of my Tour de France prints was auctioned at a charity event in Nottingham for the charity Impact helping youngsters in there educational requirements. It raised a £1000 and I was well chuffed about that. Sir Steve Redgrave was there and the star of the night who people were keen to meet and enjoy an evening with; in conjuction with Gleeds.

Monday, 13 May 2013

Here is a little nude I drew up for a little show of nudes drawn and painted on postcards which will be at the Horsebridge Centre in Whistable Kent. Other news its a little breezy outside and I've got a stack of books I'm ignoring reading at the moment I just seem to fill my time doing stuff.

Friday, 10 May 2013

Here is an edited view of a drawing I conjured up in my sketchbook thinking about a little contribution I could make to a project possibly. This morning just did 24 miles on my bike and found breakfast at the Garden Rooms in Braithwell, which felt well earnt this week after some of my bike riding this week.

Thursday, 9 May 2013

Here is an ident for Smugglers a hostel in deepest Scotland. Where you can rest your weary head after hiking or cycling exploring the beautiful landscape it serves up. Got to admit its a tad windy today I fear those cyclists on strava will be working out tailwinds to go top ten on certain segments...

Wednesday, 8 May 2013

Well the Giro is well under way, the weather over Donny Monday and Tuesday was beautiful to cycle in. It felt like I'd been reborn cycling in shorts after months of wet and cold weather. My mates on the bikes are starting to look like pieces of sculpted mahogany. I'm sure my strava said other day you went out looking like a milk bottle and returned like a piece of mahogany. Meanwhile you can get this Giro Wiggo tee over at Romster bikewear...

Saturday, 4 May 2013

Here is a cheeky little mural I did on a wall at a branch of Marks & Spencers its soon to be painted over in the next week or so I've been told. Today I've completed 65 miles on my bike the afternoon riding through up some lovely little hills to get me fitter.

Giro d' Italia

Well its almost upon us once more, I for one hope Sir Wiggo can win this epic race. I would love to see a British rider win this grand tour. Today over Donny my way its been sunny and this afternoon I did a crafty few hours in the sun. It was great after months of cold and wet it felt really refreshing to be outdoors..

The Beach & The Bike...

Every now and then I have a vision of walking the beach in my khaki shorts; one hand holding my sandals the other holding hands with a lady. She will be all lovely and in a two piece costume we will be all happy. Then on other days I have this vision like this one just riding round the country lanes happy and giggling...

This Week

This week I got a brompton folding bike, which I think with those big gears will bring on my fitness when I ride my road bike going forward. On wednesday I saw a black, white and red woodpecker which made my day. As I've never seen one in the flesh before. I managed to sunburn my arms on a ride. I managed to work a new look with my clothes which can be described as the Brokeback Moutain look. I also managed this image... I also managed to see one of my best mates...

Pick Me Up

Look what the talented Jon Burgerman has drawn me at London's Pick Me Up Art fair, while I'm indoors on a windy day in Doncaster. Yesterday I attempted the chain gang but couldn't get on at 34 mph. Those boys were really going flat out at 42mph; when I tried to get on in  really tough cross and head winds. But frankly my legs were feeling heavy from the ride I did the day before in the windy conditions and it didn't go to plan.

Tuesday, 9 April 2013

Here is a little drawing I did a few days back in my sketchbook; when I was alone with my thoughts on a cold day after a bike ride. I'm pleased to say looking out the window it looks brighter and warmer today even though I have a bit of a sniffle...

How Good

At the last count I'm dibbing in and out of five books which I'm currently reading. But I did get engrossed with this one pictured and read it cover to cover with a hot drink or two current climate. My concentration is about zero but I worked hard to digest this book in two sittings...

Good Friday

Well I'm having a good Friday; I've not got belly ache, I've done a turbo session rather than venturing out gulping cold air to make me ill once again. I've been drawing and listening to lots of Simple Minds I'm now in search of a hot drink I think... click to enlarge the image

Here is one of the doodles I've done recently, I just shouldn't be allowed to day dream and let my mind wander at all.. I've doodled so much I've had to order me some new sketchbooks to work in. I just wish this weather would pick up I'm getting through the hot drinks a plenty...

Last week I did an awesome ride although the picture attached is not from last week. But I rode from Tickhill to Chinley in the Peak District it was epic and cold and really tiring, but some of the views were awesome. Meanwhile I seemed to have done a lot of doodling since then...

Five Star

I recently had my work spotted at a five star hotel in York, England the cedar court hotel & spa apprently the best in the area. They apparently hang in there bar / lounge area so look out for them when your wooing your date in the bar area of that establishment. Always nice to get your work spotted out and about. meanwhile i'm itching to ditch my winter bike and get the summer bike out and start working on the tan lines. Come on the Sun...

Monday, 4 March 2013

Here is a little postcard I drew out for a charity auction which I will post more about soon. Great to see the Sun has been making the odd cameo appearance over Doncaster recently. It certainly lifts moods on bike rides with the lads after a long period of cold weather. I'm looking forward to pulling on the shorts and light night rides...

Food & Drink

Here is a lady I drew up days ago enjoying a tipple. Just thought all going well, I shall be visiting Manchester this weekend first time in over a year I'm sure to see a mate. Might even take my sketchbook for the train ride over there and back...

The other day was thinking I've not had jelly in ages and somehow arrived at the image above. Thank goodness the snow was brief and melted away sharpish in my neck of the woods. Only managed one cheeky ride so far this week and boy it was a windy affair.

Easy Rider

Well its another Snow day, keeping the majority in deepest South Yorkshire off there bikes today. meanwhile I've drawn up the above. Yesterday I stumbled across the Parker graphic novels, the artwork looks great, the synopsis had me salivating. Just cannot wait to start reading one of them

A Pint

Well the last few weeks the weather has kept me from the roads on my bike. But when I did get out it was stunning with the fields covered in snow and seeing buzzards and kestrels up close on the roadsides looking for food offerings among other wildlife...
