An Idiot Abroad By Karl Pilkington

Well with my eagle eyes last sunday I spotted a map published in the Observer magazine by my mate Dominic Trevett "well I think its by Dom" I told my mate phil. The following day I had it confirmed the map was by Dom trevett; by the man himself. I think every other day I've been reading interviews with Karl Pilkington in the Metro and todays Guardian travel section about his new travel book and tv show, which is a funny travelogue with his mates Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais who periodically keep checking up on him. When your next in your local bookstore look for this book and more importantly study the maps that Dom has drawn.

Rainy Day

Yesterday on my travels I spotted Jeff Banks and one Jonny Vegas minus monkey. Today I've read the sunday papers and found Jeff Banks in one of my papers. I've done a doodle or two and got my head round some camera technology. I did walk out in the pouring rain mid morning and laying in the gutter there was a soaking wet fiver. It was just laying there saying "Daddy", I tell you readers it dried a treat with an hair dryer. I was well up for a bike ride in the rain today; but it wasn't me who made the excuses. Instead I found myself discussing fine topics over a latte and a beer digesting bits of a footy match. The fiver I found; well I put that towards a book to read a Tintin adventure to be precise.

Friday, 17 September 2010

This aft I've done some idle doodling and thinking in a cheap sketchbook; not my normal work book listening to Bowie and Seal and the radio. Reet now I need a milk chocolate fix made with alpine milk. I'm in that type of mood whilst I continue my thinking. I may do summet crazy and have a latte or an instant coffee.

Mr Davis In Varoom

Today I got my copy of the new Varoom journal in the post and at lunch time I've taken time out to read a bit of it. I was really taken and interested by the Paul Davis column, I do hope that is gonna be a regular feature. Paul Davis is one illustrator I hope one day to meet; he can tell me about the Groucho. Over the years I've heard many stories and snippets about this man much of which makes me chuckle. He has worked with many of the people worth working with he is a creative legend. Oh and Paul I'd have asked the nurse out in the hospital aswell, if I'd seen her expensive lingerie through her uniform aswell. In fact take me to the hospital if for nothing else for a cafeteria cup of tea.

Forty Odd

Well today I've done about 45 miles on my bike and my legs are feeling it, I'm feeling it. At least the weather held out I didn't get rained on. I did pop into donny town centre yesterday it was a sea of legs, cheap suits and deep cleavage. This morning as I set off from town I clocked a lot of people leaving a hotel looking hungover. At least this kid wasn't nursing a hangover from hell. We continue.

Over the years this lad has drawn with a rotring, clutch pencils, markers, biro's the job lot. But I'm searching for a pen for a special outing summet new to really bond with over a brew. Come to think of it I've been thinking of some beautiful drawings Kam Tang did with a rotring pen from his RCA days which one of which features in Pen & Mouse by Angus Hyland. Now that man is a real talent with the pens.
