Two Creatures?

With interest I read Charlie Brooker's coloumn in the Guardian today. He tells readers "lurking deep within everyone's brain are two interdependent creatures. One's an insecure, quivering homunculus; the other a needy egomaniac. So long as they both take turn pulling the levers, everything works out ok. But its a fine balance. The homunculus thrives on negative feedback. Deprive it of a regular slagging, and it eventually withers and dies, leaving the egomaniac to take over. At which point your swaggering around thinking you're it". At this point you'd be like one of the contestants from the Apprentice and in need of a dose of humility. I agree with Charlie being slagged off at times is good for you. It does make you a stronger person with a better backbone. Finally second day of british summer time I spotted many a person out tidying there garden and cutting the grass and attending plants on my travels to the post office to purchase stamps to mailout my new postcard to promote me.

British Summer Time

Got out on my cycle this afternoon, I even dug out the lycra shorts I'm minus a tan; I look like the bad dude from He-Man with my complexion. We have all changed the clocks, for summer everyone has dug out the shorts or dusted down the motorbike. The light nights have begun???

"People say I'm the life of the party cos I tell a joke or two?; but deep inside I'm blue", Sorry cannot take credit for that line its a Go West song or something but its fitting today. My goodness its a Saturday, I've read the paper,  cannot bring myself to darn me socks, its windy and rainy outside, I've counted the lines on my forehead and studied my crowfeet which over the last few weeks mates have been keen to point out to me, I've had one lousy email trying to flog me viagra yet again, doodled a bit, theres nowt on telly,I've had no text messages, I'm real bored? like really BORED?

The Big "F"

Last night's TV, the Apprentice pitted the toff against the man of the people. Good to see this year's crop are not crippled by modesty. Sir Alan gave them two van loads of wet fish to flog on the street. Sir Alan reminded Nicholas de lacy Brown he got a B in his french exam in secondary school then gave him the big "F"; F for Fired..... Nicholas told us he finds it very hard to have conversations about football. Sir Alan in the media yesterday in one article I read, reminded us there's more to life than money; its ironic how conversation often comes down to talk of money and football. Other news big thanks to Preeti at design taxi for putting me on there site Big thanks. I think when they have rescaled some of the illustrations they have blurred a little. I did supply them as jpeg low res RGB did'nt make a mistake there on my part . I could have been in the boardroom myself getting a cool "F" if I'd made a mistake there.

The Apprentice

Oh yes, Sir Alan Sugar is back on the BBC with The Apprentice, which I'm sure to watching with a brew or two, with biscuits that you can dunk tonight and over the forthcoming weeks. I love some of Sir Alans rants in the boardroom and the Tasks they have to complete. Go on admit you love it too?

A Week Closer?

Ok bank holiday monday has passed; its back to work; its a new week "Owt can happen". Ive done a bit of reading over the weekend one article grabbed me in a newspaper section, a person had written a letter seeking advice they had £1000 pounds burning a hole in there pocket and didn't know how to spend it on there birthday celebration?. Which got me thinking what am I gonna do when I turn 30 later this year to celebrate. I was also reading an interview between Rick Poynor and illustrator Paul Davis I was struck with two quotes by Paul ' I have never found my voice.thats the beauty of it" which made me think about having a goal or direction in this life. Perhaps in this life its just best to go with the flow and forget about it. the other quote that grabbed me by him was his comment 'Being a romantic, he says, 'you are bound to be let down.' which made me think something about contradictions and the times I've contradicted myself.

Ok readers got dragged last evening to an interesting evening of cabaret acts, live music with a french twang and burlesque acts [tassles on nipples eh?]. Lots of people in costume I wasn't; so I looked out of place. Had a few beers and a chuckle went home.

According to a survey it takes 22 dates, three long term relationships, three one night stands before hitting the romantic jackpot??? Dr Cockney a self -styled "love expert said "These results could be bad news for anyone still looking for a soulmate". Talking regularly and an active sex life [What's that like] were what people were looking for. Poor personal hygiene, no sense of humour and being rubbish in bed are the biggest turn-offs, the poll found.

some more of my handwriting skills readers. its a rainy day, kettle on, music on, we continue?

Here you go a little spaceman I doodled, lost in space

Testing, Testing 123?

Here you go readers, this is a test piece I did a little while ago for a band along with a few other artists. After digesting there lyrics on love, relationships I was thinking about the patterns of relationships the film Animal attraction weighed on my shoulders and something about in the back ground there maybe always being the male and female who are almost right for each other for one reason and another miss each other like ships in the night.

I've been thinking a lot the past few days on how getting older the nuggets of advice and lessons I've learnt, half remembered faces and how mates have gone off the radar as I get older.

Advertising has been using nostalgia about the real world as a selling tool since the form began.Mars has just brought back the fact a bar a day 'helps you work, rest and play'. Cadbury is all about nostalgia at the moment with Joss Stone employed to warble- half mumble the familiar "Only the crumbliest flakiest chocolate" but am I alone in thinking the nostalgic feeling evoked is "Cor blimey Guv wasn't these things better in the old days? you know when Joss stone wasn't in the Flake adverts?"

Fashion Statement

I'm loving the new print campaign for Harvey Nichols which combines style with humour. Based on making a fashion statement. On each poster we see an immaculately dressed person making an impact knocking passers -by with a huge inflatable speech bubble. Great work by DDB london, photographer Jonathan De Villiers and Art director Noah Regan.
